A Relaxing Aroma
Last week on a flight to Chicago, we encountered some nasty turbulence. Sitting white-knuckled in our seat, we thought of the Calm Me aromatic balm from Rouge Aromatics in our handbag.
We opened the drawstring muslin bag it came in, applied the all-natural and organic balm (created by a certified aromatherapist) to our pulse points, and as we breathed in the ylang-ylang and mandarin scent, we felt our vise-like grip on the seat slowly easing. Sweet relief.
Rouge Aromatics
Created by certified aromatherapist and former floral designer Kari Morford, Rouge Aromatics is an exquisite, handcrafted skin-care line. Morford has created a line of aromatic balms ($9 each) meant to soothe, heal, pamper and relieve bruised, scraped and otherwise bothered skin. Rouge offers unique products like the Cleanse Me herbal facial cleansing powder ($12), which, when mixed with water or plain yogurt, makes a soap-free cleanser that nourishes the skin. My favorite product from this line is the decadent, rejuvenating, good-to-the-last-drop Rose Me facial elixir ($14) with rosehip seed oil and pure rose essential oil from France. Rouge Aromatics products are available at Bouncing Wall in Queen Anne and online at the shopping site Etsy

Happy New Year!!
I set a reminder for myself to tackle one of my resolutions first thing today. A few years ago I learned about an organization called Women for Women Intl- they have a program where you can sign up to sponsor a woman in a number of war torn countries. You donate money each month to a specific woman and her family. You are also set up to send letters periodically to the woman you are sponsoring. I loved the idea that this organization focused on women and the devastation they often face in times of war. It was also mentioned as one of the more effective charitable organizations in Clinton's book "Giving". I decided this would be a good cause for rouge aromatics and made a plan to put this in effect for 2008.
So, as of today rouge aromatics is a proud member of the Women for Women Intl sponsorship program!
Best Wishes for 2008!!
I created Rose Me to add a boost to my everyday moisturizer- it is a blend of certified organic rosehip seed oil and rose essential oil. Both are beneficial in repairing sun damaged skin, fending off wrinkles, and reducing scars. Great for aging skin but light enough to use on younger skin- it's never too early to start repairing sun damage! My organic rosehip seed oil is from Chile it cold pressed from wild Rosa affinis rubiginosa plants. The organic rose essential oil is sourced from France where it is steam distilled from cultivated Rosa damascena crops- this is a rare and unique find as organic rose essential oil is hard to come by. Best of all it smells good- it has a warm spicy rose scent similar to a wild rose.
I use Rose Me in the morning and in the evening after washing my face. I put 2 drops into my palm and lightly massage the oil under and at the corner of my eyes. I mix the oil remaining in my palm with a dollop moisturizer and apply to my face and neck.
